βBrethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though [it be] but a man's covenant, yet [if it be] confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.β
βΒΆ And Joshua made peace with them, and made a league with them, to let them live: and the princes of the congregation sware unto them.β
βNow therefore come thou, let us make a covenant, I and thou; and let it be for a witness between me and thee.β
βAnd Jacob took a stone, and set it up [for] a pillar.β
βAnd Jacob said unto his brethren, Gather stones; and they took stones, and made an heap: and they did eat there upon the heap.β

βAnd Laban said to Jacob, Behold this heap, and behold [this] pillar, which I have cast betwixt me and thee;β
βThis heap [be] witness, and [this] pillar [be] witness, that I will not pass over this heap to thee, and that thou shalt not pass over this heap and this pillar unto me, for harm.β
βThe God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge betwixt us. And Jacob sware by the fear of his father Isaac.β
βThen Jacob offered sacrifice upon the mount, and called his brethren to eat bread: and they did eat bread, and tarried all night in the mount.β
βAnd I subscribed the evidence, and sealed [it], and took witnesses, and weighed [him] the money in the balances.β
βSo I took the evidence of the purchase, [both] that which was sealed [according] to the law and custom, and that which was open:β
βAnd I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle's [son], and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.β
βAnd I charged Baruch before them, saying,β
βThus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.β
βFor thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.β
