βΒΆ Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.β
βAnd he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world.β

βBut whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.β

βΒΆ And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.β
βLet that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.β
βWhosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: [(but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.]β
βYe lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.β

βAgain, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.β
βI have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.β
βΒΆ From whence [come] wars and fightings among you? [come they] not hence, [even] of your lusts that war in your members?β
βΒΆ I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.β
βI write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him [that is] from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.β
βAnd this is the promise that he hath promised us, [even] eternal life.β
βYe adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.β

βFor the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.β
βBut he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.β
βΒΆ But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.β
βGo to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:β
βFor that ye [ought] to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.β
