βΒΆ But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you].β

βHumble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:β
βHolding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.β
βΒΆ These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:β
βΒΆ Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.β
βFor a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;β
βBut a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;β
βAnd when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.β
βΒΆ The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:β
βΒΆ For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:β

βAnd without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.β

βWhom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.β

βAnd the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.β
