βAnd ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:β
βFor a day in thy courts [is] better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.β
βNow there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.β
βAnd there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.β

βBlessed [is] the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.β
βAll these [which were] chosen to be porters in the gates [were] two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their set office.β

βFor these Levites, the four chief porters, were in [their] set office, and were over the chambers and treasuries of the house of God.β
βAnd they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge [was] upon them, and the opening thereof every morning [pertained] to them.β
βGo up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may sum the silver which is brought into the house of the LORD, which the keepers of the door have gathered of the people:β
βAnd the captain of the guard took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door:β
