โThere are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:โ

โFor men indeed swear by a greater one, and in every dispute of theirs the oath is final for confirmation.โ
โand Mizpah, for he said, "Yahweh watch between me and you, when we are absent one from another.โ
โBrothers, speaking of human terms, though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void, or adds to it.โ
โJoshua made peace with them, and made a covenant with them, to let them live. The princes of the congregation swore to them.โ
โNow come, let us make a covenant, you and I; and let it be for a witness between me and you."โ
โJacob took a stone, and set it up for a pillar.โ

โLaban said to Jacob, "See this heap, and see the pillar, which I have set between me and you.โ
โMay this heap be a witness, and the pillar be a witness, that I will not pass over this heap to you, and that you will not pass over this heap and this pillar to me, for harm.โ
โThe God of Abraham, and the God of Nahor, the God of their father, judge between us." Then Jacob swore by the fear of his father, Isaac.โ
โJacob offered a sacrifice in the mountain, and called his relatives to eat bread. They ate bread, and stayed all night in the mountain.โ
โI subscribed the deed, and sealed it, and called witnesses, and weighed him the money in the balances.โ
โSo I took the deed of the purchase, both that which was sealed, containing the terms and conditions, and that which was open;โ
โand I delivered the deed of the purchase to Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Mahseiah, in the presence of Hanamel my uncle's son, and in the presence of the witnesses who subscribed the deed of the purchase, before all the Jews who sat in the court of the guard.โ
โI commanded Baruch before them, saying,โ
โThus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Take these deeds, this deed of the purchase which is sealed, and this deed which is open, and put them in an earthen vessel; that they may continue many days.โ
โFor thus says Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel: Houses and fields and vineyards shall yet again be bought in this land.โ
