โFor every kind of animal, bird, creeping thing, and thing in the sea, is tamed, and has been tamed by mankind.โ
โ"Aren't two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls on the ground apart from your Father's will,โ
โ"Aren't five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God.โ
โ"But ask the animals, now, and they shall teach you; the birds of the sky, and they shall tell you.โ
โOr speak to the earth, and it shall teach you. The fish of the sea shall declare to you.โ
โWho doesn't know that in all these, the hand of Yahweh has done this,โ
โIf a bird's nest chance to be before you in the way, in any tree or on the ground, with young ones or eggs, and the hen sitting on the young, or on the eggs, you shall not take the hen with the young:โ
โyou shall surely let the hen go, but the young you may take to yourself; that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.โ
โYou shall not muzzle the ox when he treads out [the grain].โ
โbut the seventh year you shall let it rest and lie fallow, that the poor of your people may eat; and what they leave the animal of the field shall eat. In the same way, you shall deal with your vineyard and with your olive grove.โ
โHe provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.โ
โIf you see the donkey of him who hates you fallen down under his burden, don't leave him, you shall surely help him with it.โ
โI know all the birds of the mountains. The wild animals of the field are mine.โ
โ"If you meet your enemy's ox or his donkey going astray, you shall surely bring it back to him again.โ
โFor every animal of the forest is mine, and the livestock on a thousand hills.โ
โShouldn't I be concerned for Nineveh, that great city, in which are more than one hundred twenty thousand persons who can't discern between their right hand and their left hand; and also much livestock?"โ
